Gidget
Author: Frederick Kohner
---"the one and only Gidget. Surfers, Malibu, and America's most irresistible teenage heroine--the wonderfully fresh novel that helped to launch the nations newest craze!" Made into a familiar movie this book is better. We never heard Sandra Dee use the term bitchen the way Gidget uses it so freely in this novel.

I was a big fan of the old Gidget TV show when I was a kid, so this book was so much fun to read! I highly recommend it to anyone who remembers Sally Field as Gidget or anyone interested in the early surfers, before the Beach Boys made them popular.

Really enjoyed this trip down memory lane. I grew up watching reruns of the Gidget movies in the 70s and it wasn't until recently I realized they'd been based on a real girl.

Published in 1957 and written by the real Gidget's Dad (even though the story is first person and told by her), the book gives a detailed glimpse into the Malibu surf culture at that time.

For a book over 50 years old, it really held my interest. Thinking it'd be a great story for teens and their mom's to read in conjunction, possibly talk about. Then make popcorn & watch the movies!
