Has anyone read this? Thoughts? Is it worth reading? Also, I know this is kind of a weird question, but is the content appropriate? I mean, is there anything scandalous in it or a lot of bad language? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated! |

I loved this book but there is a lot of violence, child abuse and sexual scenes although the sex scenes are not particularly graphic.  Having said that, the plot is well crafted and addictive, and the characters are believable and original (though VERY quirky).   |

Love the book, and the following two. And, there is violence, some "bad words," but not overly so. The whole trilogy is more than worthwhile. |

UGH! I am stuck in the 2nd one, I put it down last week half way in and I can't pick it back up. I don't know why, I really liked the first one. There are just points where get soooooooooo detailed about the characters that it doesn't always keep my interest. Maybe I am shallow, or ADD.
UPDATE - I picked it back up, read 2 paragraphs and was sucked back in, now I can work or sleep - I just want to read that book.

I have read the first two and will begin the last book soon. "Dragon Tattoo" is a very long, elaborate set-up for the other two books in the series. I had a hard time getting through the first 100 pages or so because the author adds so much detail (and a lot of it doesn't seem necessary until later). All in all though, I was (and still am) VERY addicted to this trilogy. I highly recommend reading the books!! And if you get a chance to watch the original movies after reading, DO IT!! I know that the first two are available for streaming on Netflix right now. Whoever did the movies did a great job of summarizing and integrating the "unnecessary" detail. The "Dragon Tattoo" movie is a much better adaptation than the "Fire" movie. Both are in Swedish, but they do have English subtitles. |

A tough series to get into, but once you manage to get through the first one, the rest are very good. Read them in order. Also since Larsson spent a good portion of his short life speaking out against violence and sexual abuse of women, his books reflect that fervor and include adult content/themes involving rape, torture, sadism etc. -RD |
