I read this when I was about 12 and it freaked me out. But in a good way. I devoured it in one sitting and really thought about it long and hard. The story stayed with me and recently, 30 years later, I read it again and was amazed how much I had remembered: the author had told the story so well that the words were tattooed into my brain. A harrowing, terrifying, realistic story. Very much recommended.
