Fictionalized story of two real women who were sisters: Elinor Glyn, an early romance writer who wrote risqué (for her time) novels at the turn of the century, war reporter during WWI, and wrote Hollywood screenplays in the 1920s; and her sister Lucille, Lady Duff, who was a dress designer to English upper crust and was infamous when she and her husband survived the Titanic sinking and an inquiry, of which they were acquitted, for allegedly paying off the ship workers who rowed them away from the sinking ship. The book was really the up and down, sometimes competitive, sometimes loving relationship between the sisters while telling the stories of their lives and loves. These were certainly interesting women for their times - they were prominent and successful in business ventures which was rare then. My criticism is that there was so much information and history for the lives of two women that to put it all in 360 pages it felt like much of the book was just skimming the surface.
