Jane Haddam is a compelling writer who takes on all manner of contemporary issues from religion to politics. She is a good writer and the series has a long and distinguished history. Some are better than others, but they are always worth the time and usually quite well done. I have to admit, I have grown tired of the protracted romantic misunderstandings between Bennis and Gregor and feel that has gone on for longer than is necessary or enjoyable, but the series is interesting and gives some insight into a close knit community of Amenian Americans in Philadelphia. Some social commentary, repeat characters with their own idiocyncracies.
