I just finished reading The God Eaters, by Jesse Hajicek.  It is a fantasy, an adventure and a romance that takes place in a totalitarian world that resembles the Old West.

Kieran Trevarde is imprisoned in Churchrock for murder and Ashleigh Trine for writing inflammatory pamphlets against the government.  Churchrock is a high security prison and laboratory for experimentation on those who have Talents.  Kieran is a Ghoul Witch, with the ability to bring death upon others at will, and a stormcaller.  Ashleigh is an empath.  In this harsh and unforgiving environment, Kieran and Ashleigh struggle to survive, and eventually find love and hope for a better life.

The God Eaters is beautifully written, fast paced and magical.  Ashleigh and Kieran are such engaging characters and the love scenes are tender and passionate.  I read it in two sittings and hope you enjoy it as well as I did.

The story is on line, and is free:

I've already ordered a tree-ware version for my keeper shelf.

I learned about the book completely by accident, while I was browsing the gay and lesbian group shelf over at Shelfari.  The author has a manga thing going on at his website that is rather addictive and some short stories about some of the characters.  I really hope he writes another book with Kieran and Ash.  I loved their story and would love to spend more time with them.

Funny you mentioned this, Cindy.  I just ordered the series from Fictionwise a few days ago and will read them just as soon as I finish up some of my current stuff.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I love buying e-books from Fictionwise.  They have a great selection and are very easy to download.  I just wish they would have a separate category for m/m romance.  They can be hard to find unless you know the authors.
