and he gave us vocal chords to speak, why the hell won't he speak audibly to us? Is he a liar, or just not there? How come it's only after we die that we get to see the glory of Christ? Why doesn't he prove his existence now? If God is sovereign, then couldn't he do whatever? And yet, he does nothing. The bible is full of God making big things happen in real time. What about us? What about now? So what I'm saying is: if God exist, he isn't sovereign. if he isn't sovereign, then he's a liar if he's a liar, than he's not holy if he's not holy, then he's not God. We're screwed! |

Speaking of 'images'----------I've sometimes thought that Michelangelo is the big culprit here. How many people, in the backs of their minds, carry that image he painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel of "God" (a fierce-countenanced, bearded, old man in flowing robes), reaching out his mighty forefinger to touch that of the reclining (naked) Adam? Hunh? |

And how many think God's about to say, "Pull my finger?" |

Sometimes I feel why won't God talk to me? I think he does in through others. There are many books out there about God . I especially like Conversations with God series by Neale Donald Walsh |

First, I suspect you are being more or less flippant, though I could be mistaken. I wonder if you're taking "image" a little too literally. It could mean lots of things, including "capable of thinking for one's self" for example, as opposed to just following instinct. But as a non-Christian, I'm perhaps not the best one to discuss possible permutations of meaning of the phrase, especially since I don't know what it is in the original which is a great handicap here.
If God is sovereign, then couldn't he do whatever? And yet, he does nothing. I'm not a Christian, but I often find it helpful to turn questions like this around and look at it from the opposite perspective. When I'm tempted to ask "why me?" I stop wonder "Well, why not me?" If someone's car was going to get rear ended, what's so special about me that I should have been spared? Similarly, you ask why Doesn't God intervene, well, why would he? I'm asking this seriously, if you assume a Christian perspective and God is God - the Christian God with omnipotence, lots of interest in humanity, the ability to intervene any time he wanted, creator and ruler of the universe and whatever other attributes you attribute to God in your questions, why would he intervene? What's in it for him, so to speak? What would he gain if he continued to make the sun stand still in the sky and parted waters and so on? He gave us free will, a guide to determine right from wrong, a conscience, and intelligence. He sent his son, offered us all eternal life. Now it's all up to us. |

And Man so loved himself that he created God in his own image. |
