AND THE SAGA CONTINUES. A TERRIFICE BOOK
Even though not by Puzo, the book is great, the charactors very developed.
A must read for all "Godfather" fans!
"A real pleasure, a fine swirling epic." The New York TImes Book Review
Well written, fast paced.
Not a bad read - if you enjoyed "The Godfather" you will probably like this style of writing. The story is convoluted at best, and more than a little reminiscent of every gangster movie you've ever seen, not to mention the Sonny Corinthos storyline on "General Hospital" but it's a decent book and enough to keep you busy for awhile.
This novel is bsed on the Corleone Family characters created by Mario Puzo. Very interesting! Larger print.
As another reviewer said, "it is a tough act to follow, but someone had to do it..." This novel continues the story set forth in Mario Puzo's famed "The Godfather" novel and is set in the time period between the end of that novel (the 1950s) and about 1963. Although the novel overlaps the Godfather II story, it does not really focus on it, and Hyman Roth plays only a bit part in this story, not the central role he played in Godfather II as the main adversary. No doubt this is intentional, leaving open the option of writing a second novel which might essentially be the novelization of Godfather II.
this author continues the story, the years not covered in Mario Puzo's bestselling book or in Coppola's classic films.
A new novel based on the Corleone Family characters created by Mario Puzo.
Mark Winegardner has undertaken an unenviable task in writing a book that is a sequel to one of the most interesting novels of all time. he gives it a good try, but he doesn't have the feel for the mob or the people that Puzo had. Read it. It is fun. But do not expect something as great as the Godfather.
It is 1955, Michael Corleonne has won a bloody victory in the war among NY crime families. Now he wants to consolidate his power, save his marraige and take his family into legitiamite business.
LOOK OUT! HERE HE COMES. HURRY,RUN,HIDE!
