I thought the book would have more of a supernatural slant, but it didn't quite go there. The main characters are a husband and wife with 5 children and who enjoy the perfect life. The children are perfect and the husband and wife adore each other. By a series of strange events, they are left with a newborn and decide to raise it as one of their own. Don't want to give away the plot, but will just say that the longer the child stays with the family, the more they suffer as tragedy after tragedy occurs and one spouse begins to question if their recent bad luck is connected to the arrival of this baby girl. Not so much a "horror" story, but it did grab my interest and thought it was a quick, but good read.
