I loved this book! It's sad to see it out of print. The book's text is mainly quotes from personal diaries of the time as well as newspaper or magazine articles organized in such a way to give the full picture of what the gold rush era was like from multiple perspectives. The journal entries are documented pieces of history, not historical fiction like some similar books.
