I like all of Wilbur Smith's books that journey into Africa and this one was an all nighter.
First time in paperback--the exciting new epic novel of the Courtney family. The family blood has long run hot, but now one of the Courtneys has succumbed to the worst kind of evil. Isabella Courtney has become obsessed with Ramon, the Golden Fox--one of the world's most ruthless terrorists.
The Courtney family blood has long run hotas hot as the passion and turmoil boiling in war-torn South Africa. When one of their own succumbs to the worst kind of evil, those ties are put to the ultimate test.
Isabella Courtney, dazzling daughter of South Africa's ambassador to England, is passionately obsessed with Ramon, the Marques de Santiago y Machadoalso known as the Golden Fox, one of the world's most ruthless terrorists. When she secretly bears his child, Ramon kidnaps the boy and persuades powerful, yet reluctant, Isabella to betray South Africa and her beloved family...until the truth at last comes out, and the explosive Courtneys rally to her side and strike back with a raging vengance....
(1990) We've got rich folks with hot blood (of course), a "dazzling daughter" of a South African ambassador. Then there's Ramon, the Marques de Santiago y Machado (he's the Golden Fox), ruthless world terrorist. Of course, the beauty falls in love with the terrorist, and bears his child. Dastardly deeds ensue, sprawling across various exotic locales. Sounds like a Romance novel, doesn't it? Nah, it's a thriller. And a fast and fun read. Three and a half stars.
