Yo, Ho, Ho me buckos! Buckle your swashes for this rousing tale of pirates of the Caribbean in the waning days of the 17th century. Bawdy and brutal, it is a step beyond Sabatini's "Captain Blood," "Sea Hawk," and "Black Swan." Christobal, our bastard of a Spanish nobleman hero, is a combination Errol Flynn, Fabio, and James Bond. All the Helens of the Caribbean fall immediately in love with him; most cannot wait to bed him down. If you have to skip the mushy stuff, this is still a tale to rival Sabatini, Marryat, Fenimore Cooper, and Patrick O'Brian. Yerby is yet another writer who, along with his novels, has fallen into obscurity.
