I had great hope for this book. I really wanted to love it - 1. because I am the daughter of a holocaust survivor and 2. because the premise is completely intriguing. I really enjoyed parts of it. When the golems come to "life" and explore and enjoy life in New York it was refreshing and just plain fun. But I found the main character to be unlikeable, and some of his lengthy musings annoyed and angered me for various reasons. Then I reminded myself that it's just a book, and one that became tedious at times. I can't say I would recommend this one.

A magical masterpiece about a writer with writer's block who confronts the Holocaust and meets up with Primo Levi, Jerzy Kosinski and others.
