OK, no one come to my house and beat me up or anything, but I've just GOT to say this:

The Mercy Thimpson series by Patricia Briggs is so completely fantastic, I like it a ton more than Elena Michaels in Kelly Armstrong's Bitten, etc books.

I know Bitten has been out there longer, but Patricia Briggs just has talent, she's a wonderful storyteller and the books are wonderful and WORTH THE WAIT!  I rarely can read a trilogy all at once; usually I need a break between books 2 and 3.  Not this time.  I real Moon Called, Blood Bound and Iron Kissed all in a row, even while moving into a new house.  They are soooo good!

They're so good I'm thinking about taking the Kelly Armstrong books off my "keeper shelf" and listing them on here....

Whew! I thought you were going to say that vampires and/or weres suck. ;-)

I've only read Bitten & Stolen in Armstrong's series & Moon Called in Briggs series and so far I'm enjoying them both equally. I have heard that since Dime Store Magic & Industrial Magic focus on Paige Winterbourne, that those books aren't quite as good as the ones that focus on Elena Michaels. I'm not quite there so I don't have an opinion yet. I'm still on the WL for the Briggs series so I guess I'll have to reassess my opinion when I get through those.

I love them both , but Brigg's latest Iron Kissed was probably the best of both series put together. That book is wonderful!!

oh, the Briggs books are fantastic.  that doesn't mean i don't still like the Kelley Armstrong books too.

I have heard that since Dime Store Magic & Industrial Magic focus on Paige Winterbourne, that those books aren't quite as good as the ones that focus on Elena Michaels.

i may be in the minority, but i actually like the witch books better than the werewolf books in the Otherworld series.  while Bitten was great, i didn't like Stolen quite as much, but i thought the books with Paige were equally interesting.

I've not read any of either series.  Does that get my Paranormal membership revoked?

Yes you are both officially kicked out.  They are both in my top 5 fav series!  You have 1 month to start both series or you must turn in your membership cards.

BTW....Patricia Briggs has been around a lot longer than Kelley Armstrong...but the Mercy books are a new(er) series for her.  And if you like both of those series read Jaz Parks series by Jennifer Rardin...she too is in my top 5!

I just like that the books in this genre just seem to be getting better and better.  I'm a fan of all three of the authors mentioned above so it's hard to pick a favorite:)  Iron Kissed was really good though.

Briggs earlier books were marketed more in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre weren't they?

*snickering*

Bitten is much sexier than Moon Called so you might want to start with that one. ;-)

I have to agaree that P Briggs is a great author!!!!!  I also love her books and characters.  I have never gotten into Armstrong or some others because I usually don't like to read about the same main characaters all the time.  I like to read seperate stories about each character brought into the story, but not the same all the time.  The exceptions seem to be Mercy and also Mojo Sheepshanks in Linda Lael Millers new series.

The reason that I didn't like the witch books as much is that I hated Paige from teh moment I first read about her. So when she was the main character in two of the books I really didn't like her.  LOL

I've only read Bitten so far in the Otherworld series, but I liked the Mercy Thompson series much better than Bitten.  I'm curious to see how the characters from Bitten develop though.

Just what I was looking for - a rowdy bunch of paranormal readers! Woo WOO!

I'm reading 'Midnight Desire' by Emma Holly.Usually, I enjoy her books but this one is NOT a keeper. I'll be looking to get rid of it as soon as I'm done - tonight or tomorrow. Have any of you read it?

I love Patricia Briggs!  I have read the first 2 of Kelley Armstrong, and I like them, but I like Patricia Briggs better.
