I am looking for a good boy's book set in Arkansas.  Am  planning a unit study on the 50 states soon, and have found famous historical figures from other states, but am failing in Arkansas.

To give you an idea of his interests, should be age leveled between 9-12, 48-100 pp.  About animals, impish boys (along lines like Tom Sawyer).  Have found Bill Doolin, but am uncomfortable in introducing "heroic outlaws" at this point in time.  Would like possibly something that has kids traveling back in time to historic time in Arkansas that would be interesting to little boys.  (He is 7, but very bright).

Thanks much!

I'm as dense as a fence post. LOL!! I'm sweeping my kitchen floor humming The Baby Bumblebee song to myself wondering how in the world I got that stupid song in my head.  You know that song?  I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee, won't my mama be so proud of me, etc.

That's sung to the tune of The Arkansas Traveler.  So there's some more fun Arkansas trivia for ya!
