There are many kinds of writing styles. This style in NOT fluff, or chick lit. The author is very talented, it borders on being a great piece of literature. At the beginning, I had a hard time sorting out which character was speaking and when. Dont let that throw you. It will make sense in a few pages. There are 3 female characters. In many ways their lives interconnect, but not in some hokey, we are all sisters separated at birth idea. But more about how they have some similar experiences over time and how they deal with it now. I dont want to spoil anything for you. But I want to encourage you to take the time to read this book. It will touch you.

This is an engrossing story--hard to put down. The characterization is excellent. Highly recommended.
