Kate Seredy is an excellent writer & story teller. This is a fun and engaging story. Reminds me of 'Farmer Boy'- in Bulgaria! Lots of cultural, and historic 'everyday life' information woven in to a truly 'classic' tale.
I loved this book as a child and shared it with a granddaughter who was equally taken by the wonderful narrative, lively characters and descriptive passages. I would recommend it to anyone 10 yrs and older.
