Besides, BDB, Sookie, Vampire Diaries and Anne Rice series. What are some good series? I've heard that the Anita Blake series is pretty good so I'm looking to get that.
Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Some authors to check out are Tanya Huff and Jeaniene Frost. The Anita Black series by Laurell K. Hamilton starts of great but her latest book has a lot of fans annoyed by the content. I also enjoy the YA series House of Night series by P.C. and Kristin Cast and the Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine. I just got the first book of the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead after hearing that this series was pretty decent. |

I recomend Sookie Stackhouse series and also the House Of Night series. They are very different from each other, but very addicting. |

I just finished the first Anita Blake and loved it. I also recommend the house of night novels. If you like a little tougher vampire story, I have heard Ghost Road Blues is good. |

I like Stephen Dedman's two. The Art of Arrow Cutting and Shadows Bite. And Sunshine by Robin McKinley. It's a stand alone. But wonderful. Last Edited on: 9/7/10 12:26 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I really, really love the early Anita Blake novels but lost interest when Laurell started putting in all that ardeur stuff in which Anita has to copulate on every other page or go crazy. I mean, I'm no prude (by a long shot) but the books seemed to lose their "spooky" factor and began to be more and more just about sex. I love Jeaniene Frost, Kelley Armstrong and Kim Harrison. You can't go wrong with any of these authors if you like vampires & the supernatural. Not a big fan of Christine Feehan though... her books tend to be a little too mushy for my taste and written with very flowery dialogue. But I'm a guy and I'm pretty sure she wrote her vampire series just for women. People tell me J.R. Ward is good, though I haven't read one yet. |

I have to say that the creepiest vampire series I have read is Necroscope by Brian Lumley. Other series that I liked (but not mentioned above) were by Fred Saberhagen, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro and P. N. Elrod. These three series are not as creepy as Necroscope, but are far better than most of the other vampire series that I have read. |

Necroscope is a Excellent series on Vamps...they are keepers on my shelf..If you like the romance part of the vampy world check out Christine Feehan's Dark Series (Carpathians) I second Jeanine Frost's Night Huntress world. The Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter has Vamps in it but not main character. I find I like books with strong female characters in the paranormal range to be excellent reads. Check out the paranormal forum as well if you are looking for some suggestions. |
