Grey's Anatomy F*ckery from one of my favorite websites, Too Much Free Time. Apparently the network "had issues" with the Callie/Erica story line. Asshats. Quoth show creator Shonda Rhimes, "Brooke Smith was obviously not fired for playing a lesbian. Clearly it's not an issue as we have a lesbian character on the show – Calliope Torres. Sara Ramirez is an incredible comedic and dramatic actress and we wanted to be able to play up her magic. Unfortunately, we did not find that the magic and chemistry with Brooke's character would sustain in the long run. The impact of the Callie/Erica relationship will be felt and played out in a story for Callie. I believe it belittles the relationship to simply replace Erica with 'another lesbian.' If you'll remember, Cristina mourned the loss of Burke for a full season." Way to stand up for your show, Shonda. |

Oh I am so ticked off about this crap. Brooke was absolutely fabulous as Dr. Hahn and last week's episode was beautiful. Her comparing her epiphany to her childhood need of glasses to see the leaves made me cry. This is just horse crap! I was so proud of the show for venturing into the homosexual aspect after all of the crap with Isiah Washington last year. Well, I ain't so proud any more! |

Oh and if you missed it, here it is on a blog http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2008/11/brooke-smith-gr.html?iid=top25-20081104-Brooke+Smith%27s+%27Grey%27s+Anatomy%27+ouster+is+not+right+and+not+okay ... I thought it was an Emmy nomination moment. Wonder if it'll be considered? |

I don't get what the problem is either. I really don't. I haven't heard anyone complaining about, and I live in a very conservative area. I was much more shocked at the whole thing where the new doc stabbed the pigs (yes, I know they were fake pigs) and you are talking to a person who is literally cooking bacon right now. (Sorry to all you vegetarians out there). I thought the Cali/Hahn story was unfolding quite nicely. I just don't see what the crisis is all about. That's just lame. |
