A tip I recommend (and my DAD actually used it, which makes me laugh) is before you are going to check out of an online retailer (be it a biggie like B&N or a small, barely known site) is to Google up the site plus the words "coupon code." For example type into Google, "Barnes & Nobel" + "coupon code" (yes, use the plus sign). You'd be surprised what comes up! You usually will have to wade through a bunch o' junk from spammy sites, but I almost always get something, maybe 10% off, etc. I recently found a coupon for "Collections, Etc." that was "everything ships for $1." You can get some good discounts!

also check out the site retailmenot.com - you can find codes for all kinds of sites plus ones to print off if needed. I have used it before and love it!

Heather, I do that all the time. Some sites let you add more than one coupon code...Once I dropped the price so low that I had to add something to get all my savings.

Awesome tip!  I use couponcabin.com... you can get both printable coupons and coupon codes- since they are not necessarily one and the sam :)

If you get a Borders membership card (which unlike B&N it's free) you get points with every purchase and every $100 spent equals $5 in Borders bucks. You also get % off coupons via email every week or so and some of them are really good like 40% off one DVD or 25% off entire purchase. Plus they send special coupons on your birthday and I just got a holiday "gift" from them - a coupon for 40% the price of any one book and 40% off any holiday DVD or CD.

You can also sign up at Deal Dude online, they send out weekly lists of coupon codes for different book sellers' sites like Alibris and Bookcloseouts.

I also split my order up in parts in order to use a coupon code several times if I will save more money.

Me, too!  I just saved $20 a couple of days ago by splitting my order up into 4 different orders.
