Dr. Temperance Brennan and a team from the Guatemalan Forensic Anthropology Foundation are digging at the ravaged village of Chupan Ya. Twenty-three victims are said to lie at the bottom of the well since 1982 when soldiers ravaged them. The team is packing up for the day when an urgent satellite call comes in. Two collegues are under attack. With this new violence Tempe is asked by the Guatemalan police for her expertise on another case. Teaming with Special Crimes Investigator Bartolome Galiano and Montreal detective Andrew Ryan, Tempe soon finds herself in a dangerous web that stretches far beyond Guatemala's borders.

OK, took a peek at the "details" for this on in the postings - so I won't get into the synopsis of the story - it's there for you to read if you want.

If you're into Reich's books, and want the plot to come up and smack you 'tween the eyes, this one doesn't. Not like "monday Mourning" did.
Anyway, in this book, she builds the suspense level by focusing on Brennen's investigation, and what her discoveries lead to.

Reich's weaves a web of conspiracy, with enough clues thrown it to keep you guessin throughout this listen. She has a reputation for being one of the smartest crime fiction writers around. This is an enjoyable book, if you're into this genre, but I won't betray your trust by saying something stupid like "this is one of her best"!
If you've read/listened to her other offerings, I think you'll agree that this one is passable, enjoyable and all that - but she has done better.

I liked it, because I don't compare my current audio with any preceeding ones - maybe you do.
