What a great book - it's as packed with information about the potato as the potato, itself, is with nutrients. The writers have complete knowledge of their audience - the book is approachable to any 9-12 year old. The sections discuss the history of the potato, famous potatoes (nicknames, dances, etc.), and describe many crafts a child can work through using potatoes.

Sometimes I think the authors are a little tongue-in-cheek about things, especially in the "Potato Legends" section. I laughed out loud at one of the things they mentioned, but a child wouldn't catch it.

I am amazed that a man who ate nothing but potatoes for six months competed in a 51K bicycle race and came in 2nd by only a few seconds. Potatoes are amazing!
