I saw this column in the Raleigh News and Observer from Children's Book columnist Susie Wilde: http://www.newsobserver.com/2013/09/21/3212467/books-can-tempt-readers-to-learn.html It introduces books about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics for children as young as 2 years old and as old as "10 and up." I was an avid reader as a child (mostly animal stories) and have enjoyed working as a biological scientist for almost 30 years. The U.S. could use more talent in the STEM fields - and it's never too early (even at age 2!) to start cultivating that talent. Just my 2 cents. |
