This book was so beautiful, that I couldn't put it down, but at the same time, I didn't want to read it too quickly because I was sad that it was almost finished! I wish that I had the financial ability to spend a year in Italy to save my family as well. Susan made me feel as though I was right there with her and her family, and I am deeply grateful that I had the honor of reading her book. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone!

Enchanting read. I liked this author. My first time reading her work. Beautiful discription of Italy, made me want to be there. If my husband said "lets think about living here in Italy", i'd be packed in a flash. I liked the story, the flow of words and the area she chose to write about. I also will look to see what more this author has to offer. Well worth my time.

Somewhere along the way of the 20+-yr marriage of Susan Pohlman, the author, & her spouse have lost what it takes to keep their marriage going in the busyness of their daily lives. They are at the point of divorce. Instead, the couple take a risk, pull up their 'roots,' pack their bags with their two children to Italy for a year. The couple find each other again; the simpleness of the Italian life in the small villages they visit, enjoying the art of the sights they visit, the coffee breaks, the special times together as a family, & watching their children adjust to school abroad. Pohlman writes of the families adventures throughout the year spent abroad. She often shares comical thoughts & thoughts to contemplate. A thoroughly enjoyable read. Makes a person want to travel to Italy. The book easily makes you feel you are there with the family.

A very inspiring message about coming back from the brink of divorce, letting go, and healing of the family and of oneself all told against the quaint backdrop of small town living in the Italian Riviera. In a nutshell, this family was courageous to set roots in Italy for a year without even knowing the language. Their quiet triumphs were moving and eye opening. Although this book was Christian based, the theological references weren't excessive nor offensive for the non Christian. It was just enough to relay the writer's self growth. If you are an Italian aficionado, this peek into the lifestyle is certainly for you. 4 stars.
