I haven't dressed up in years, but now that I'm dancing, there are all these Halloween dance parties. Anyone have any cool costume ideas? It can't be anything bulky or hard to move in, because of dancing. I think it would be really fun to do something from a romance novel, but I can't think of anything.

I have been to dances in the past...dressed up as someone from a "Reninanscance Fair" I know the spelling is off on that word..LOL..

Ive also dressed up as a "nice witch"..and two years I was a "flapper" from the 40's era.

If you ballroom dance...its nice to have those flowing skirts...just not too long, so you wont trip on the dress.

That would be hilarious, to dress up as a ballerina to dance salsa! I wonder if I could find a tutu.

Or you can take tulle and thread it with a large needle and elastic cord.  Put a scarf or belt around the waist.

For that matter, Isadora Ducan just used scarves.

Yeah, but I think the joke would be lost if it wasn't obvious what I was. I'm not sure how much the average salsa dancer would recongize Isadora Duncan. ;-)

What about going as a harem girl or a hula dancer?  You could go as a 50s girl wih a poddle skirt.  That would be an easy outfit to put together.  Or you could really scare people and dress up from the 80s.

Yeah, my husband suggested the dancer from "Flashdance." :-)  Hula dancer would be easy, though I don't know if I have the upper arms for it. :-\
