Sorry, newbie here. I've so far sent out 3 books to people (1 just yesterday), but the other two haven't said they recieved yet. The first I sent first class and its been almost two weeks so I'm a little worried if they haven't gotten it yet. The other I spent extra to get a DC# and it was delievered (yea ok, it got there yesterday), but no credit yet. Guess I'm a kinda impatient, yet I'm eyeing some books that I'd like to request and approaching some WL books.
Also, is it considered rude to ask the receiver if they got the book or not before the estimated recieve date? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! |

While the one book may have been sent 2 weeks ago, that was also the holiday season. There were 4 days in the last 2 weeks where there was no mail delivery (2 Sundays, Christmas, New Year's Day). The one that was received yesterday should be marked shortly. If it went to a PO box, they may not pick up mail daily. I generally do not email the receiver until a few days before the lost date or if I used DC and it's been a week since it showed delivered. Printing the DC directly from PBS is a small investment but worth every cent as you get your credit usually just a few hours after it is scanned into the system by the post office. |

It's been two weeks over TWO holidays! I'm shocked any of them have gotten there. Yes - I would consider it rude to PM so soon to ask if they got the book. Personally - I'm out of town for the holidays and won't check my mail until I get home. |

Don't worry, I think the mail is just still slow because of the holidays. Also, just because they scanned the DC doesn't mean it has been delivered to the correct house, or that the person it was delivered to was home. Some people do consider it a bit rude to ask, especially since the site itself sends out automated reminders asking them if they have recieved the book yet. Others don't think it's rude, it's a bit of a toss up. If you are going to pay extra for DC you might as well use the PBS postage because you would get your credit faster. |

Thanks for the replies! :) Guess I just need to relax and let the mail and the PBS system do its job. It's good to see how others would view the PMing - I'll keep those comments in mind if I actually do need to ask sometime in the future. Also will probably use the PSB postage next time.

You have to learn patience around this place?!! |

Yes, first you learn patience - and at some point in the future you will wonder why you worried since you now have !00+ books on your TBR pile!! I have way too many on my TBR pile - just had to buy 2 new bookshelves. I love bookshelves. Ruth |

Forgive me if I believe people misunderstood, but I'm not worried about receiving books, I'm worried that the books I sent got where they should be and that they could be marked as 'received'. Yes, I am impatient on getting credit as mentioned before and I know now to relax, but I still have anxiety over my sent items. I'm part of 3 other trade sites and sent about 6 other packages through media mail and 1st class over the past two weeks and they've all made it/I've received feedback. Only the 2 books on this site haven't been marked yet. :/ Last Edited on: 1/6/10 1:21 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Welcome to PBS Julienne! Not sure what's up with your books, but (as already mentioned) the holidays can interrupt schedules. For me, it's been worthwhile to use PBS DC and purchase postage at my post office (it's nearby & I'm there frequently). The package is scanned as part of the sales transaction, and when USPS downloads a few hours later I recieve credit for the book. I'm no longer at the mercy of USPS, or members logging-in books as received...this lowers my stress levels, with the added bonus of having the ability to watch books enroute. Purchasing PBS postage earns you immediate credit. Last Edited on: 1/6/10 2:25 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
