I recently had a BOB deal offer and I did a quick look at the titles and agreed after finding books on her shelf I wanted. No problem, so far. Last night, I see she has agreed to the swap and I go to get the books. One of the books by Harlan Coben was listed as Tell No One but what I had on my shelf was Gone for Good. I started to read the book after getting it at a UBS and decided I didn't like it and put it on my shelf. Never gave it another thought about the titles since I didn't review it or give it stars so I never saw that it was listed wrong. I double-checked last night and "Gone for Good" is NOT on my shelf. The only thing I can figure is that somewhere the ISBN is wrong but I am not clear where. Does this happen often? I have to say that I personally have not had this happen before but I have a relatively small bookshelf. Just curious here....you can bet that I will make it a new habit to make sure the ISBN I type in the system is the actual book I have in my hand! Fortunately, the person I was swapping with wanted the Gone for Good. Anyone else have an issue like this? |

this can actually be a normal problem, because publisher's will reuse ISBNs. always double check when posting that the book matches Title, Author, ISBN and Binding. if the ISBN doesn't match, then you have to post the book without an ISBN. it sucks, but the system can only hold one book (title) per ISBN. :( glad you were able to work it out with the requestor! |

This is a very common problem and it's not an issue with PBS being wrong but an issue of publisher's reusing ISBNS or misprinting ISBNs. It's especially a problem with book club editions I've noticed. Hardcover BCES frequently have paperback ISBN's on them or bring up a completely different book (by the same book club publisher). |
