Happy Spring and Ostara to you Candice and to everyone else as well. Easter really is a pagan holiday, borrowed by the Christians to celebrate their belief about Jesus rising from the dead.
In Late Antiquity, there was a spring fertility celebration in honor of the Goddess Eastre (Ostara), whose sacred animal was a hare. The Venerable Bede, an early Christian writer, wrote that clever clerics copied Pagan practices and by doing so, made Christianity more palatable to pagan folk reluctant to give up their festivals for somber Christian practices. So praise Ostara - for the chocolate bunnies!
