A few of the books I am wishing that I know exist in paperback, I only seem to be able to find the hardcover on paperbackswap(S.M. Sterling's Protector's War as an example).

Usually when I find a book there is an option to choose the version. Any help would be appreciated.

If you know that there are more than one versions of a book but can only find one on PBS, then you probably need to go to Amazon, Fantasticfiction or one of the other sites that lists books, find the ISBN for the book you want, and post it at PBS.  It would then come up as having no copies in the system, and you could then WL it.   HTH.  Pat

I just searched did a search for that book and both the hardcover and paperback versions showed up.

Is it possible you were just searching the Posted Books?  You have to remember to set your search for "All Books".    Both the hardcover and paperback versions of this book are wishlisted and neither would have shown up if you just searched for "Posted Books".

Matthew--

Lynne and Pat both have great tips.  I love that Stirling series myself, so here's a link to the paperback.

Cheers,

Catt

The individual book listings don't always show a link to other versions.  The best way is to set it to All Books like others said.

Also from the Wish List, click on the Author's name, a list will come up containing all the books by that author in the Data Base. (If the name is not spelled differently, that is) The book titles in Green are posted, the ones in Red are not. If you click on the titles you can then add that book to either your Wish List or Reminder List. Or if it is available, order a copy from there.

Quite often in the author's list, all versions of the book will not show up. I see missing editions of boks all the time, with multiple different authors. Many of these I have checked to see if they were spelled correctly (had exact same name, same spacing, etc) and usually they are identical, so I can't see why they don't show up.

Sometimes the names are slightly different and I will Book Data edit them to be whatever the majority of listings are for that author.

But, if you want to find all editions of a book, the very best way is to search by title, (but if the title starts with a "the" or "a" or something like that, leave it off), make sure you are searching for all books, and do it that way.

Sometimes, the only way I've found a book is by searching by ISBN.  I go to Amazon, get the number, and come back to PBS and enter it.  Some books haven't come up by title or author (and I'm using the all books button).  These books have been obscure mathematics titles.
