Hardee 1 Hardee 2 Author:John Hardee I reckon people don't read enough any more. I wuz teaching some riting recently in a local community college, and I found students that had never heard of Tom Wolfe, Thomas Wolfe, Chekhov, Anderson, Hardy, James Baldwin etc..But they all seemed to be up on the murder in Dallas-the TV program, not the town (actually, maybe some of them, the town... more »). I am on my second lifetime reading of Mark Twain (and I sure as hell ain't no Mark Twain), but I sure like to read good stories.
So read this book.
If you don't like at least one story in this book, send it back to the publishers and they will refund your money (very painfully, I'm sure). Please enclose your receipt.
Also, you will need to send me a three page treatise explaining why you don't like this book and a summary character description of Barfus T. Paperbee, Courthouse Clerk #43, a character we all know and love. (Okay, no summary, but I would appreciate a note.)
Some of these stories have been on my mind for decades. Some of these stories havew dragged my lazy butt out of bed at 2:00 a.m. to go fire up the old typewriter and change a word. And some of these stories may still be in the writing. Judge for yourself.
