A Harmony of Angels Author:Angela McGerr Do you know how to tell if angels are trying to connect with you? In this lighthearted, and informative guide, you will learn how to find your guardian angel and how to invoke the aid of the special angels that will help you meet life's many challenges. What or who are angels? Most people know of them through religious upbringing and the paint... more »ings of the Renaissance, but in fact only three angels are mentioned by name in the Bible (Michael, Gabriel and Raphael). There are many hundreds more, arranged in hierarchies of importance, whose invisible world is described only in ancient scriptures, some of which, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, have only recently been transcribed. In addition there is much anecdotal evidence of their sudden, and often life-saving, appearances in ordinary peoples lives. In the past, people of many religious faiths believed and trusted in angelic help (the angel Gabriel is said to have dictated the Koran to Mohammed; the archangels Michael and Gabriel appeared to Joan of Arc), but as with so many ancient teachings this knowledge was lost during the so-called enlightened centuries of science and rationality that followed. Again, as with so many of the ancient teachings, a new awareness developed at the end of the twentieth century. Interest in the presence of angels, and their ability to love and help us through life's many challenges, has been growing internationally for the last two decades. And it is true that as one becomes interested in the subject they crop up everywhere, whether in literature, art and films, television and literary anecdotes or in the conversation of others who have heard about them or become aware of their presence. A HARMONY OF ANGELS is not a religious book, although it has aspects of spirituality, neither is it an attempt to convert, though it does attempt to open a door through which many may choose to pass. Written by a former businesswoman, who admits that only a few years ago she herself would have been skeptical about angels, it aims to show that angels are everywhere about us, that they will give us their unconditional love and help all we have to do is ask. (The reason they mainly seem to appear in life-threatening situations being that this is the only time many people would think of calling on them for help.) There are many hundreds of angels, with areas of influence ranging from health and healing, wisdom and strength, the earth and nature, love and communication to specific tasks such as the angel of birds, or patience, or babies. The introduction explains how to call on angels, with a simple invocation, a warning as to when not to look for their help and a reminder that one must remember to give them love and thanks in return. As a means of helping the reader to decide where to start and whom to approach for help and guidance, the book is divided into seven chapters, each under the dominion of one of the major angels, who also happen to be the angels of each of the days of the week and who also rule over a certain area of life. But associated with this major angel there are many other individual angels (whose names are largely unfamiliar) who can help in very specific situations. Within each chapter these are grouped under a variety of headings angels to help with family quarrels, with illness, in the garden, for the success of a project. Each chapter also has features giving more in-depth information about angels five ways of knowing an angel is trying to communicate with you, four ways of invoking protection for loved ones etc. Each chapter also contains a specific meditation which the reader can perform in order to develop better awareness and guidance.« less
