Peg Bracken was an eloquent writer with a dry wit and sharp skills of observation. I love the way she describes every day life and the requirements that can be such an imposition on any woman who'd rather be having a drink with everyone else than standing in the kitchen trying to make everything get done at the same time. And the recipes are for real, things you'll actually want to eat and that aren't hard to cook.

This version is an abreviated edition that the Birds Eye company published. I'd recommend you find the unabridged edition, it's much better.

This is a rather funny book, especially when you flash back to the era in which it was written.
