I stumbled on this book at the library while just wandering around looking for something of interest. Hater is horror, totally out of my usual reading genres, but the book jacket was eye-catching....so I took a look....and the blurb about the author was so interesting, I had to read it. David Moody self-published this book online, and then without an agent succeeded in selling the film rights to the director of Hellboy and the producer of The Chronicles of Narnia! Wow, that's like every writer's dream, right? I was very intrigued.
Well, even better, I'm happy to say I could not put the book down. As horror, in many parts it was violent and in some parts it was really quite gross and disturbing. But the main character was very believable and even though the story was far-fetched (I hope!), it all unfolded in a very plausible way. The book is the first part of a trilogy, and I will definitely seek out the next one when it comes out.
I just wanted to spread the word that this is a very good book, gripping, eerie, a page-turner, and I hope it's a big success for the author.
