Set in the feudal society of England, this novel is based on a very, VERY independent woman and a machisto man. He believes a woman's place is in the home with kids and home care and she has fought her whole life to be seen as an equal. Right there you have the basis for the suspense and drama, not to mention an assassination plot....

It's a good book. There were many details to help you imagine the setting, however some of them were a bit redundant and I would browse over them. What couldn't have been better were the character interactions. You could almost see them in front of you discussing their matters.

Over all, if you give it a try, you'll love it....even the stubbornness and bickering and building love. Worth every minute spent reading it!
