I just finished this book. I feel close to Kate, because I live just 30 minutes from her hometown of Macon, Mo. She even mentions Shelbina a few times, lol. I loved this book for a number of different reasons, this was HER life, and her way of getting through the grief of her husbands death. She mentions so many people in it, and I love genealogy, so it made me very curious about her family. And her experiences in both Korea and Iraq, she gives you a sense of being there.

This book was very well written. It was fascinating to learn a soldier's perspective on Sept. 11, while she and her husband were stationed in Korea, and on the war in Iraq since then. She maintained a good journal, so her writing is very detailed and interesting. You will be saddened by her story, but it is a must-read I think for anyone in this country who wants to support our soldiers. BTW, if you are married to a soldier who is deployed, wait til they return to read this book, my advice.
