The title kind of says it perfectly...staggering. I never quite understood what he was trying to say...he jumped all over the place in his thoughts. So much so that by the time he completed one I had to re-read the sentence to remember what he was talking about. It was the first time I closed a book and thought, "What a waste of time!" It is truly heartbreaking that his parents died and he raised his little brother, but that wasn't really what the book was about. I found it to be self-indulgent.

this is one of the best books i've ever read. some of the scenes made me laugh out loud and others made me cry.

I guess I missed the joke. Mr. Eggers' humor must be different than mine because I found the work snarky, not funny.
