A terrific read. I was so involved in the characters and plot that I was never tempted to take a peek in the back - an enormous fault of mine. So when a book comes along that holds my attention throughout, I am really impressed. Not a boring moment! Nikki Heat and Jameson Rook are smart, sexy, intense. Haven't read the other two books in the series but they are on my wish list.
Great!

If you like the show you will love this tie-in. It's grittier and sexier than an actual episode of Castle. It's a fun and a quick read.

In addition to attempting to solve the bizzare murder of a local parish priest, despite roadblocks from within her own department, Nikki has become the target of an unknown death squad. The priest has been tortured and his death is somehow reminicent of another death years past. Nikki becomes increasingly more concerned about one of her close associates...has he become "dirty" or is he onto more than Nikki is aware? After she is stripped of her badge, she and Jameson Rook take it upon themselves to find the answers.

As a fan of both the TV show Castle and the Nikki Heat series, I am starting to wish that I could read more of Richard Castles books. Because quite honestly, I basically loved this one. Its full of fun references to Castle, which is an obvious move, but theres even a Firefly reference for those of you who are a fan of Nathan Fillions other work.

My obsession with Nathan Fillion aside, what I really enjoyed about this book was that we as fans get to live the kinds of things were not currently getting in the TV show. Most notably that Castle and Beckett have not gotten together on the show. Which totally works for me on TV, because I love the push/pull thing they have going on. But you add in this book series, which is in theory what Castle has been writing, and you essentially get the fanfic we all kind of want to see on screen.
