I read this book in college between 1989 and '91, and have thought about it from time to time since I don't know what happened to it after that.

The story starts in England where a woman rescues a man from a train wreck, and he at first can't remember who he is. He is attracted to the woman taking care of him, but when he regains his memory realizes she is his sister! He had come to England to collect her and her children and take them home to Texas where he is a wealthy landowner. He never met his sister, I think she was actually maybe his half-sister, and the woman taking care of him is not really his sister but a friend of his sister's, and the sister had died. She lets him think that she is his sister so that he will take her with him because she wants to stay with the children. They go to Texas, taking along a woman named Diane or Diana (imagine that, I remember that name and not the main characters!) who is a helper or servant of sorts to the other woman. She is not a nice person though she puts on a facade that she is, and once they get to Texas Diane falls in with a bad guy and together they plot against the main characters. Meanwhile the man is struggling with the fact that he is strongly and sexually attracted to the woman he thinks is his sister, and there are some pretty steamy scenes, one of which is them watching each other masturbate. He eventually finds out the truth and is mad but marries her, then Diane starts pulling stuff like pretending he tried to sexually assault her and other efforts to get them apart.

Anyone who has any ideas at all about what book or author this could be I would sure appreciate the help!

Yep, it was a really good book and I have gone crazy over the years thinking about it because it was one I would swear I kept, but never found it. My husband probably got a hold of it and sold it in a yard sale for a nickel :p
