So the vamps and such are not normally my thing. But I found one on audio at the library and it was OK.  So I got a good deal on some MP3CDS of the 1st 7 Dark books off of Ebay.  I'm listening to Dark Prince now which is supposed to be the 1st one. But I still feel like I'm picking up in the middle of the story some how.  This is part of the reason why I avoid some of these long series like this because they get confusing.

So the question is: is there a website with a sort of Carpathian Family tree type thing?  Her website has some FAQ's and says what order to read them in but that's all (that I can see anyway).  I tried doing a websearch and keep coming up with fanfiction sites which I'm not interested in at all.

I don't really have an answer for you, I just had to jump in and say I downloaded the Dark Series books 1 and 2 from audible.com, and despised the narrator so much I can't read the rest. I actually started making a list of all the words she mispronounced (starting with Carpathian - sheesh, the mountain range they come from is pronounced car-PAY-thian). I ripped the earphones out of my ears in frustration numerous times but finished both anyway. Maybe that means the story was better than the narration? But I couldn't listen to any more.

The narrator on those two is Juanita Parker, and I felt like her voices for the Carpathians were incredibly monotone and lifeless, where in my mind they would have rich, accented voices. She narrates several of the series on audible although I see there are other narrators in the series as well. Her heroine's voices were ok; her actual narrating mediocre - she wouldn't have cut it reading storytime at the library, in my opinion. And all those mispronounced words. I don't mean to be anal retentive about it, but talk about jolting one out of the moment!

I'm an audio book obsessive and love all things audio, so it isn't that I'm not used to a woman narrating romance. (LOVE Anna Fields!) And my opinion varies wildly from the Audio File review of her narration posted at audible, so I guess you shouldn't take my word for it.

Sorry for the hijack...

it seems to me i'd seen this in the front of some books.

i did a quick google search and found this family tree diagram, which includes which books go with which couples: http://www.christinefeehan.com/dark_series/carpathian_guides/familytree.htm

Here is a link to her stuff on the Fantastic Fiction site (http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/f/christine-feehan/)

This is the website I go to find publication dates and the orders of books an author wrote in a series.  It have been very helpful to me for several authors.

OK I'll check those links out.  I kept coming up with stories based on the series written by fans. I just want a chart showing who's in what book and how they might be related/connected to other characters.  I just picked up Dark Celebration from the library and it's talking about the hero from Dark Prince on the back. So I'm more confused now.  Is it a 2nd story about Raven and Mikhael or is it just a general Carpathian story and not about a specific couple?

These are done by Juanita Parker and I'm not finding her annoying at all.  She's not the most dynamic reader but I don't feel like I won't be able to stand her for the others ones.

BTW:  Some of these are WL but mine don't have an ISBN.  I got them used on Ebay and they came w/o a box.  I'm willing to cut a deal since the postage would be cheap.  So if anyone wants them send me a PM and we can work out a deal. 2 for 1 or something.  I have 7 of them.  Mostly sequential.  I don't have Dark Dream which is part of an anthology that I don't think is available on audio.  They're MP3CDs.  They have the publishing info so they aren't bootleg.  I just don't have the box to verify ISBN#'s. If I work out a deal for them, I'll post a couple w/o ISBN for that person to order.

Mary,

Dark Celebration is actually one of her later books just published Christmas I think 1 1/2 years ago. He was getting all of the couples together so far for a family reunion so to speak so it introduces characters from many of the prior books and allows others to get older -- though I started with a title in the middle -- I think its really better to read them in order -- A couple of them are in anthologies with other authors but worth getting... She has a website - Christine Feehan.com that lists them in order including the short stories -- they are

Dark.....Prince, Desire, Gold, Magic,Challenge, Fire, Dream, Legend, Guardian, Symphony, Descent, Melody, Destiny, Hunger, Secret, Demon, Celebration ----- Finally - Possession.

Most were good -- perhaps one or two not as interesting, and I thought the last couple have been getting a little odd - but I do enjoy the early ones - and once you read them you'd enjoy Celebration so much better too.
