I have such a big TBR pile that I can't decide what to read next.  I go for historicals with good character development (I love unconventional and less than perfect characters), as well as lots of steam and emotional intensity.

Here's my temendous TBR pile, which DH has been nagging me about. The last one (Lessons of Desire) was only so/so, so I need a REALLY good one next.  I think there might be some candidates on this list.  Pleas help me decide!

Jeebus, this is a long list. I would recommend the following from your list for steam/emotional intensity:

To Wed A Scandalous Spy (Royal Four)

Untouched

Vice

Prince of Ice : A Tale of the Demon World

Forbidden, Susan Johnson

Desire, Nicole Jordan

The Seduction, Nicole Jordan

Moonrise, Anne Stuart

To Love a Dark Lord (An Avon Romantic Treasure), Anne Stuart

This following from your list is not that steamy or emotionally intense but I liked them:

Desire In Disguise -- not that steamy

Calypso Magic (Magic Trilogy Book 2) -- I remember this being more funny than intense

Confessions at Midnight -- this is a cute book

Too Wicked to Tame -- this book was crap

Gentle Rogue (Malory Novels) -- funny book

The Runaway Duke -- this was cute

A Kiss of Fate -- this was boring

The Rake -- not steamy but a good book about alcoholism

The Wild Child -- love this book. it's really different.

Ravished -- this was cute and fun

the only one i've read is Prince of Ice : A Tale of the Demon World by Emma Holly.  i thought it was ok, but not great, and not as good as her Midnight series.

Yikes, that IS a list.  Not that mine is any shorter, mind you...  I hate to sound like a broken record, but you need to read those Marsha Canham books pronto.  They should always be at the top of the list.  I might steer people wrong from time to time, but never on MC:P  And then, My Beloved by Karen Ranney, and Wild Child by MJ Putney.

I agree with Kim.  I would pick a Across a Moonlit Sea by Marsha Canham or My Beloved by Karen Ranney.

I dont read historica but I did read Bride and Beast a year or two ago and liked it..not really steamy but parts are funny. Enough to keep my interest in a genre I don't usually read LOL!

I started 'welcome to temptation' but haven't gotten back to it..it's contemporary.

try Emma Holly or Susan Johnson and lemme know how they are - I have some of theirs in MY TBR!

The Dragon's Bride/Jo  Beverley. Not a favorite of mine, though not bad.

Untouched/Anna Campbell. She does nothing for me, I don't know why. You might love it. Many do.

Not Quite A Lady/Loretta Chase. Fun read, but not her best.

Calypso Magic (Magic Trilogy Book 2)/Catherine Coulter. I couldn't get through this one.

The Runaway Princess/Christina Dodd. Good read, not great.

All I Ever Needed (Zebra Historical Romance)/Jo Goodman.  Good, but read them in order. The first is my favorite.

The Seduction/Nicole Jordan. The only book of hers I really like.  Good and intense - I think you'd like it.

Too Wicked to Tame/Sophie Jordan. I vaguely remember this one as boring.

The Masquerade (de Warenne Dynasty)/Brenda Joyce. I love this one, my favorite by her.

Stranger in My Arms/Lisa Kleypas. Okay, though not her best. The heroine is very dull.

When Strangers Marry/Lisa Kleypas.  Really not one of her top books.

The Bride and the Beast/Teresa Medeiros. I love this one! She's kind of an overly sentimental writer, but also funny and intense.

Whisper of Roses/Teresa Medeiros. Intense, but not really well written. Too many plot twists.

A Kiss of Fate/Mary Jo Putney. Didn't care for it, but it is intense. You might like the steaminess.

The Rake/Mary Jo  Putney. I found it dull.

The Wild Child/Mary Jo Putney. Okay.

The Viscount Who Loved Me/Julia Quinn. Fun read, though I'm not big on her style of humor. Not the sort of thing you usually like. I'd recommend The Duke and I first.

My Beloved/Karen Ranney. Excellent, of course! :-) I didn't feel a strong connection to it, though. I need to reread it.

Games of Pleasure/Julia  Ross. Haven't read yet, but _The Seduction_ was fabulous.

I missed Games of Pleasure in there somehow.  I really liked that one.  A lot actually.  Very different sort of H&H.  The kind I like - very credibly human, flawed.  It's the sequel to One Night of Sin, which was a real stinkburger though.:P  Wouldn't even waste my time with that one unless you feel strongly about reading everything in a series.

Thanks for all the recommendations Ladies!

Last night I started Games of Pleasure.  I loved Julia Ross' the Seduction as well as Flowers Under Ice (which she wrote under the name Jean Ross Ewing).  Didn' t get very far, but I'm enjoying it.

The others will be a the very top of my TBR.  Thanks again--this helps me with a strategy to attack the TBR and get it under control.
