I've gotten a RC stating that they don't want any books that have been around cigarette smoke.  Even if I don't smoke I really have no idea if the book has been around smoke prior to my obtaining it. Some of my books are from used book stores, libraries and from PBS. Should I decline therequest to prevent a RWAP or send it.  This may also apply to pet requests.

I have allergies so my sense of smell is not that great.

Thank you

I think it just depends on what your comfortable with. I have an RC about cigarette smoke but I made sure to note that it only applies if the book is currently in a smoking household. In my opinion, this is what most people mean and not that they want you to attest to the fact that it has never ever been around cigarette smoke. But if you do not feel comfortable sending it out, decline the request. Those of us that do have RCs about cig smoke realize that sometimes people do not feel comfortable sending the book at all and sometimes need to wait a little longer for a book. :-)

If the RC states books that have not been around cigarette smoke then I would decline.  If it states not currently in a smoking home/environment and you do not smell the smoke then accept.   Smoke is subjective, but if I am not sure I will decline because most people with smoke RCs have a allergy. Just because I can't smell the odor doesn't mean it isn't there.  If you are around smoke and are accustom to the smell, then be careful.  If you are sensitive to cig smell then you will be able to tell. Good Luck

To me, it depends on how the requestor worded it.   If they say NEVER been around smoke, I'd decline because how can you know?

If like Nicole it says "Currently in a smoking household" then I'd send.

Agree with Cozi. How is the RC worded exactly? From your thread title it sounds like you are leaning towards declining, which is perfectly fine.

I also have a poor sense of smell. I will decline RCs that use the word "smell" because it is subjective, but if it's worded "not currently in a smoking home/environment" and the book has been in my possession for a while, then I would accept.

But as Nicole H said, it's all what you are comfortable doing.

If I'm unsure, I decline. I would decline the request you got unless I was the first owner of the book you were sending.
