I've been looking for this title for a long time. I read this book a long time ago and I don't think many people have read this book... it's sort of one you might find in a bargain bin at a used bookstore, ya know?

Anyway, it's a Sci-Fi book, and I think Tau Ceti is in the title, or maybe just Ceti ... or something that sounds similar. What I can remember of the story is that a race of people have to flee their home planet and they separate into two groups, one going to a settle on a cold planet and one on a hot planet.

It's told from the POV of a young woman on the hot planet and you see how the settlers have difficulties adapting to the conditions and the fact that they can't eat the plantlife.

Later in the story, the young woman and the guy she eventually falls for discover that the creatures on the planet that the settlers have been hunting are intelligent and communicate by mental imagery. Also, during the story they get a visit from the settlers who colonized the cold planet and there is a big difference on how their social structure developed than those on the hot planet.

Eventually the settlers and creatues establish a peaceful coexistance, especially when the creatures introduce them to a sort of salty substance they can mix with the plants to make them edible.

That's all I can remember. It was a really good and interesting story and I would love to find it again. If anyone can help me out with the title???
