I've been thinking about some past reads and was wondering if you could help me?

It will probably help if I tell you I tend to stick to harlequin type books...

Here goes....

I'm remembering this book starts out with him visiting her on what I believe is the one year anniversary of his wife/her best friends death.  The electricity goes out and the have sex, she is mortified when the lights come back on.  He tells her they didn't use protection and he wants to know how long before she will know if she is pregnant.

The pregnancy is a big part of the storyline because apparently his wife had been unable to conceive and had become obsessed with it.  I believe she actually died because one day after once again discovering she was not pregnant she went riding recklessly and ended up falling from her horse and being killed.

She does become pregnant because I believe there is some emphasis on how easily she became pregnant vs. the horror their married life had been because his wife was unable to conceive.

Ultimately it comes out that he has always been in love with her...not having met her until the rehearsal dinner or maybe the wedding, her could not have told her or his wife how he felt and eventually she confesses that she always felt the same way.

Kind of a fluffy read, but exactly what I'm looking for right now!!!

Thanks,

Melissa

This must be a contemporary? Do you remember if it was category or single title or anything like that? It does not ring any bells for me, but after your description, I want to read it... :) I hope someone knows what it is.

It's The Second Bride, by Catherine George (per suggestion from a friend on another site).

The description sounds like it.

I don't recognize the cover and the description seems tame compared to what I remember reading....but I ordered it and can't wait to find out if it is as good as I remember.

Thank you so much!
