I am hoping beyond hope someone here can help me.  I read a book I believe was entiteld No Regrets (I could be wrong, but believe that is it). in the early 90's.  Is was a paperback I picked up at the store.  The story revolved around the main character taking a road trip with her best friend, who was leaving her husband and moving to CA and taking her two young daughters with her.  The book tells how they became friends, a few other tales about their friendship but mostly deals with the trip itself.  The book stuck with me to this day, though I'm not sure why.  I have searched everywhere online I know to search.  If anyone can help me I will be so, so grateful!

I've done an Amazon search for No Regrets with no luck.  I found a couple of books with that title that I ended up ordering here and it's all your fault. :)  The book sound like something I'd like too so I wish I could have helped.

I don't have anything to offer as far as where to find the book, but you might try posting this question over at Library Thing. They have a group just for this, called "Name that Book." I've used it a couple times and have always found the book I was looking for. Here's the link:

AbeBooks has a Book Sleuth forum  that might help as well. I have used them successfully several times now.

However a quick search of Amazon turns up this book which sounds very similar to what you have described:

I've had really good luck with http://allreaders.com/

It is a book search that you can search according to genre, plot, characters, etc...
