I saw a book in Borders today that I wanted and by the time I got home I'd forgotten the title!  Can you guys help me?

The book was in the literature section.  The cover depicts a man standing in a corner, he is dressed in a suit and hat from an older time.  The book is about a 13 year old boy who lost his mom at a young age.  In the first few pages he describes how he talks to her constantly.  I guess the book is about how he finds a book he wasn't supposed to read.  It's fairly new...

Any ideas?

Sounds like The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon (good book, by the way).

Sorry I can't help but I do second Deb B. about "Shadow Of The Wind"!  I believe there is a sequel just out, too?

The second book is The Angel's Game. Not really a sequel -- and not really a prequel -- but rather a stand-alone that is the second of four books (the third and fourth are not out yet) that are connected like four pieces of a puzzle, or as the author (Zafon) writes: " [these are] stories that share a universe, a tone and some central themes and characters."
