I'm looking for a series that I read in the late 80s or 90s.  I want to say its a Silhouette Intimate Moments series, but it could be Harlequin. It is definitely one of them.

The series was about a secret black ops group run out of Washington DC. There were several books in this series. The book I remember the most about has the following details:

  • Hero is the leader of the group. He used to be involved with the vice president of the US (who is a woman).
  • There is a threat against the vice president and the team calls in the Herione--who looks very much like the vice president. They do a switcheroo and the agent takes the place of the VP.
  • The group leader acts as the undercover Heroine's handler while posing as the VPs lover.
  • I remember the VP had a very large dog--komondor--that everyone was worried wouldn't get along with the agent.
  • Also, the undercover agent was allergic to carrots, which played a large roll in the story.
  • Spoiler: Come to find out the VP was never the actual target, but the undercover Heroine was.

Any help finding these books would be greatly appreciated.

That was back when I was reading a bunch of those kinds of books but it doesn't ring a bell with me at all.

I found it! The series is Code Name: Danger by Merline Lovelace.  The book that I detailed above is called Perfect Double. Thanks to everyone that looked.  I didn't realize that there were so many other books in the series.  I stopped reading series romances not long after this.  Now I just have to figure out what I did with my copies of the first few books.  They're in a box around here somewhere.
