Hey Everyone!

I have been looking for a title on a book for the past year or so. Unfortunately, I do not know much of the story, but I will tell you as much as I remember.

I know that the book is classified as an Independent Reader book. It deals with war. It made a big deal on an AOL article, because the book was really TOO REAL if readers were not mature enough to read it. I know it was about a boy who was sent off to war. Although the boy is young, maybe between the ages of 12-15. The book goes back and forth between the boy and whoever he was fighting...I want to say Hatians....something with an H...(but I could be totally wrong with the enemies name). Whenever the story would talk about the "enemy" , it would also give actual facts. I want to say it was the Civil War, or Revolutionary War..one of the earlier ones.

I know that probably does not help at all. I just remember reading the article, because it was warning parents that they may not want their child to read it. If anyone knows what story that might be, or could reference me to some site, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Gary Paulsen's WOODS RUNNER is probably the book you're thinking of. The "enemy" are Hessians, mercenary soldiers during the Revolutionary War.

Sheila M. has posted a review above.
