Ok, I'm trying to figure out when this is going to get canceled.  I thought it would be early this morning, but I guess I'm wrong.  The book was marked
"Accepted" on 9/1 (as opposed to "Waiting on Member").  I assumed this meant that they would mail it on 9/3, right?  Another 2 days for them to mail would be 9/5.  So what am I missing?  I rarely use the mail right away button, so I'm not 100% sure about the dates on those.  Here's what pops up when I click the details:

Request Date:
9/1/2009 3:08 AM ET
Date Accepted:
9/1/2009 10:55 PM ET
Label Print Date(s):
Awaiting Member
Date Mailed:
Awaiting Member
Estimated Arrival:
Awaiting Member

I have a feeling someone's going to answer and I'm going to get really embarrassed that I didn't know the answer to my own question.  LOL

I think it would run out tonight. The time might start at the midnight of the day they accepted...But I would have assumed the 5th too.

I'm pretty sure you are correct, Crystal.  Accepted is supposed to mean they've taken the I can mail in two days option, so your book should have been mailed by the 5th.  Maybe the sender has gone away for the weekend and forgot to mark it mailed.

She never even printed a label though, so I'm not sure she forgot to mark it mailed.

According to this: Swapping Deadlines

  • After accepting a request by clicking "I can mail in the next 2 days", a sender has 5 days to mark the book mailed. The deadline is at the end of the fifth day.
  • After accepting a request by clicking "I can mail later" and choosing an alternate mailing date, a sender has 2 days beyond the alternate mailing date to mark the book mailed. The deadline is at the end of the second day.

So, if the request was accepted on 9/1 by clicking the 2 days button, she has until tonight to mail your book.

Well, I just had a book time out.  It had a request date of 8/26 Accepted 8/29.  I thought it would time out on 8/31 - five days from when it was requested.  Instead it was five days from 8/29 the date accepted and it times out about three in the morning.

So your accepted 9/1 book will time out 9/7 at 3 in the morning.  Technically five days is 9/6 but PBS does all their busy work at 3 EDT. :)  Daily wish list is posted at about three in the morning and requests are timed out at three too.

I'm guessing that when it says the book is accepted it's by clicking the I Can Mail in Two Days button - won't swear to that.  But, I didn't have any dates on mine - it was like yours Crystal.

Does PBS make allowances for long weekends?  I'm going to have to mark one mailed tomorrow/Monday before it's actually in the mail b/c the post office won't be open until Tuesday.

Yes, in fact they do.  You mail it as soon as you can, earlier would be nice but no fret that it'll be Tuesday.

The built-in grace period is partly to cover long weekends.

I am about to have a book time out.  It was WL and I had it on automatic accept.  I am hoping she/he is going to accept it tomorrw because that would allow mail by for Saturday.
