My husband has just been transferred to Louisiana and we know nothing about the south.  We have lived most of our lives on the west coast, WA and CA.  Any suggestions on nice towns in LA to live.  We are looking at Northern LA.  I know  this is off the subject but I figured a good place to start.

Shreveport looks like a nice area.  I visited there once.  Also Monroe was nice.  That's about it for north Louisiana, unless you're looking at small towns.

oh yes, my daughter visited St. Joseph's in northeast Louisiana and said it was really nice.  She stayed at a friend's house on a lake.  i think it's a small town.

I don't know much about Louisiana.  You might try posting in the PBS Local Chapters forum.

Oh Ruston is a good area too. My brother went to college there.
