Topic: Help with Photo Upload

I am new here, and am having trouble uploading photos of the "naked" books I have. I know that you can click on the "naked" photo when I am in my "book shelf" area. Doing that will bring up an unload screen, but I keep getting an "invalid ISBN....or missing ISBN" message when I click "upload." The file isn't too big and is a .jpg. Does the file name have to be the ISBN of the book? Is that my problem? I have the file name as the title of the book as I find that much more user friendly for me than the ISBN. Any help would be much appreciated. I tried to search for an answer myself and I must admit I haven't found the "help" files to be any help.

Amy, the invalid isbn has nothing to do about the size or name of your file, but with the isbn that was input when you clicked the naked photo picture. Can you provide us with a link to the book you are trying to upload a photo of? The only thing my sleep fuddled mind can come up with is that you're trying to upload a photo for a book with a custom isbn (like 5 digits) and the system is choking on the short number. [On those, you would need to go to the book page, and then select "edit book data" from the More drop down.] |

Next weird thing is now it is showing a photo in my bookshelf listing, but no photo when I click on the link to go to the book. What am I doing wrong? Thanks so much for the help!

I wonder if the system is a little glitchy lately. I was getting that error message this weekend when I was trying to upload some pics. I was using copy/paste on the ISBN so I wasn't typing it wrong. It just wouldn't take the pic from anywhere but the book details page. |

It seems that the system has started having some problems using the Upload link from the blue 'No Image', especially for the PBS-assigned ISBNs. I've had a few recently. If you used that link, then the problem is certainly not the ISBN itself. Sometimes an image can become corrupted in downloading it to your computer, so even if it is the correct size and is jpeg, the system won't accept it. You might want to try putting it into your image editing program and re-save it (jpeg, of course), and then re-submit. ~~~~~
Actually, if you are ONLY uploading image(s) and NOT editing other data, PLEASE, PLEASE use the Upload Book Covers link at the bottom of any page rather than the Edit Book Data. Using the Data Edit screen causes a submission to go to the Data approvers even though there is nothing changed or added. The system separates the image and it goes to Image approvers - so Data approvers still have to review the data edit screen and it can really slow things down. :^] ~~~~~
Amy, if you continue to have a problem, please just use the pm button by my name and contact me directly - we should be able to get the problem solved. ~~~~~ Meant to add, when the image shows in some areas or in some sizes, that it just didn't take properly and needs to be resubmitted. Since the blue No Cover now has a Larger Image button, you won't be able to upload from there.

That also appears to be the message I get when there is another image already pending approval. (I know this because I uploaded an image for a book, turned around and immediately uploaded it again. I don't know why. I just did. That was when I knew it was time to go to bed.) |

Meant to add that sometimes you just have to re-submit the image to fix the "but no photo when I click on the link to go to the book. What am I doing wrong?" problem. You aren't doing anything wrong. PBS has had a problem with this since they asked for volunteers to upload images. And want to say thanks for helping with getting some clothes on these books! |
